ACCESS STATEMENT FOR ASHBOURNE HOUSE - 17 BERROW ROAD, BURNHAM-ON-SEA, SOMERSET, TA8 2EY.
Ashbourne House is a six bedroomed Victorian house on a level location situated five muniutes from the High Street and two minutes from the beach.


We provide some off-street parking, but there is also free on road parking available in Poplar Road. The front garden has been allocated a First Award in Highbridge and Burnham-on-Sea Britain in Bloom for four consecutive years.

Pre-arrival:

We can be contacted by e-mail, via the website (which has a link to this Access Statement) or by telephone.

We can provide free pick-up service from either Highbridge and Burnham-on-Sea train station or coach stop in Burnham-on-Sea.

A black taxi in the area provides a wheelchair friendly service, at a cost, Telephone No. 01278 751733.

The ground floor bedroom, conservatory and dining room are easily accessed by wheelchair.

The use of a child's buggy and a wheelchair are available on request, free of charge, if booked in advance.

Arrival and Car Parking facilities:

Off road and on road parking is available for all guests. Off road parking is situated at the back of the house on block paving, within 15 metres of the entrance. On road parking is in Poplar Road by the house entrance. The entrance is well lit with no obstructions. We offer assistance with luggage to guest rooms.

Main Entrance and Reception:

The main entrance is to the side of the house with block paving to the door, the bell is on the right hand side for use when the door is closed. The main door, which is 89cms wide, opens with a Yale lock and guests are issued with a key to this door as well as to their own bedroom. The tiled vestiblue is accessed by a 10cm step. By the inner door, also 89cms, is a further step which is 12cm deep that leads to the Hall. Once inside, there is a push button bell to gain attention, near the tariff chart. The entrance hall is well lit and has wooden flooring which continues into the conservatory and dining room. There is also a wooden floored toilet off the hallway.

The Dining Room:

This area normally is arranged with two tables seating two people and two tables seating four people, but can be easily re-arranged if necessary. The tables and chairs are made of wood, the chairs having fabric seats. The table height is 74cms.

Bedrooms:

Bedroom 1: is on the ground floor on the left hand side of the hallway and is accessed by an 89cms door, which allows access by a wheelchair. The room is carpeted throughout and contains a 50cms high single bed which is accessed by the right. The lighting is provided by ceiling and bedside lamps. A television with Freeview, a radio alarms and a hairdryer together with tea and coffee facilities, on a tray, are also provided.

The en-suite: has a walk-in shower, hand basin, shaver point and a light above the mirror and low level toilet.

The the first floor there is a flight of 13 carpeted stairs, each 16cms high and 82cms wide. Turning right onto the small landing before turning left to three more steps to:
Bedroom 2: is accessed by an 89cm door. The room is carpeted throughout and contains two 50cm single beds which are accessed by a central point. The lighting is provided by ceiling and bedside lamps. A television with Freeview, a radio alarm and hairdryer together with tea and coffee facilities, on a tray, are also provided.
En-suite: has a 54cm high bath hwith overhead shower, low level toilet and hand basin with shaver point and light above the mirror.

From the flight of 13 carpeted stairs, turn right onto the small landing before turning right again to five further steps and along the wider and longer landing to:
Bedroom 3: which is accessed by an 89cm door. The family room is carpeted throughout and contains a 60cm high double bed and is accessed from both sides and two 50cm high single beds, one accessed from the left and the other from the right. The lighting is provided by ceiling and bedside lamps. A television with Freeview, a radio alarm and a hairdryer together with tea and coffee facilities, on a tray, are also provided.
En-suite: has a walk in shower, hand basin, shaver point and a light above the mirror and low level toilet.

Bedroom 4: at the end of the wider, longer landing is accessed by an 89cm door is a large family room. It is carpeted throughout and contains a 65cm high double bed which is accessed from both sides, a 50cm high single bed which is accessed from the right hand side and a sofa bed which converts to a small double bed. The lighting is provided by ceiling and bedside lamps. A television with Freeview, a radio alarm and a hairdryer together with tea and coffee ficilities, on a tray, are also provided.
En-suite: has step-up shower raised 23cms, hand basin, shaver point and a light above the mirror and low level toilet.
